The Founders
Cirque started with founders Erik and Derek, both growing up in the mountains from opposite coasts, but united by a shared frustration: gear that couldnʼt keep up.
ERIK KERR
Erik, hailing from the breathtaking Adirondacks of upstate New York, was raised amidst towering peaks, lush forests, and serene, ice-covered lakes. His father, a pioneering technical climber in the region, instilled in him a deep respect for the precision and raw power of nature. From a young age, Erik was immersed in the great outdoors, spending countless hours skiing down powdery slopes, hiking through rugged trails, and paddling across tranquil waters.
Each season brought new adventures and challenges, pushing him to explore his limits and embrace the beauty of the wilderness. These formative experiences shaped his understanding of the outdoors, teaching him a crucial lesson: when your gear fails, you fail. This realization has driven Erik to become not only an adventurer but also an advocate for quality gear and safety in the wild.
DEREK KRESSER
Derek, a proud native of Utah, spent his formative years mastering the art of carving turns at the iconic Snowbird ski resort, where the crisp mountain air fueled his passion for winter sports. His adventurous spirit also led him to explore the breathtaking red rock canyons of Zion and Bryce National Parks, where he hiked and marveled at nature's stunning beauty. From exhilarating bobsled runs to challenging alpine ascents, Derek has always been on the hunt for the next adrenaline rush, embracing the thrill of speed and motion in every activity he undertakes.
Throughout his years of riding, he encountered a common frustration: overpriced goggles that scratched easily, fogged up at the worst moments, or broke when he needed them most. This persistent issue ignited a spark in him, leading him to believe that there had to be a better solution for outdoor enthusiasts like himself.
The Moment That Sparked Cirque
Cirque was born in a whiteout.
In the backcountry of Niseko, Japan, Erikʼs expensive new goggles failed - completely fogged and useless. A local guide handed him a pair they had been testing and guiding in Hokkaidoʼs back country for over two years: The difference was night and day.
That moment stuck. Erik came home with a mission and Derek shared it. Together, they began building goggles that deliver what riders actually need: clarity, comfort, and confidence - without the inflated price tag.
Two years, eight prototypes, and hundreds of hours in the field later, Cirque launched.
The Meaning Behind
A cirque is a bowl-shaped amphitheater carved by glaciers. Itʼs natureʼs perfect blend of precision, form, and force.
Itʼs also a nod to motion and mastery - like a circus on snow. That dual meaning captured everything Erik and Derek wanted to build: gear thatʼs engineered for performance and inspired by the flow of riding itself.

Cirqueʼs technology was born in the mountains of Japan and co-developed with ski guides who spend 100 days a year in the backcountry. Their feedback shaped RavenSight™ lens tech: razor-sharp, fog-free, and tested in storms.
The goggles were then tested even more and refined in Utah, where Erik and Derek pushed it across terrain as rugged as it is beautiful.
